Industry Collaboration, Perinatal Palliative Care

June Ganley, MSW and Jessica Connolly from Notre Dame Health Care’s At Home Division recently presented at the National Hospice and Palliative Care Federation of Massachusetts Conference sharing their insights on Perinatal Palliative Care.

Their presentation, An Interdisciplinary Approach to Perinatal Palliative Care and Bereavement provided helpful information to industry colleagues. We love working collaboratively with our partners and sharing our approach to excellent and compassionate care.

Advances in prenatal testing have led to more prenatal diagnosis of life-threatening conditions in pregnant mothers and the subspecialty of perinatal palliative care (PnPC). Perinatal palliative care supports an expectant mom and her family throughout her pregnancy, the decision-making processes before and after birth, and the grieving process when there is a fetal diagnosis of a life-threatening condition. June and Jessie discussed perinatal palliative care, identified challenges inherent in PnPC, presented each case, and discussed the roles of each discipline and factors contributing to success.
